Date: 17/10/2013

With Red Bull leading the way, top teams such as McLaren and Mercedes are looking to finalise their 2014 line-ups. Each claim they have taken aggressive steps to pursue their top targets.

Each team seem to be taking different paths when offering the drivers a contract. Willi Weber, Manager of Michael, was on hand to explain the situation. He stated that it would be a tough choice for his client especially with the differing levels of salary and the level of competitiveness in each of his potential teammates.

He said his client was keen to win the constructors championship next year so that would be one of his key priorities. Elsewhere Helmet Marko stated that he wasn't ruling out any of the three options he'd picked himself, and that he'd be keen to hire the best person for the job regardless of experience especially if they were willing to commit to Red Bull long-term.

Christian Horner made a livid figure, stating that the other teams had been ganging up on Red Bull. He also lamented the teams eighth place in the constructors championship and blamed absent drivers [Wander and Jasper94] for their current position.

Helmut Marko stated the team would take a zero tolerance line in the future and that they would be aiming to bolster their line-up ahead of 2014. Marko wants the strongest possible teammate to partner Kiszol, who he described as the 'strongest on the grid'.

Before silly season 2014 has launched into full flow, the current championship leader has made a shock decision to leave Sauber for 2014. Sauber are currently experiencing their most successful year of all-time, leading both the drivers and constructors championships and amassing 3 wins.

Williams are currently languishing in eighth place in the Constructors championship however Scott Williams has stated “he’s looking forward to building his legacy at his namesake team. Just like Brabham, it would be a dream to win under the Williams banner.”

“I know the media and paddock are likely to be critical but the move will push me to a different level, especially working with characters such as Frank Williams.” Later in the press conference he commented that he’s “fully focussed on this year’s championship and helping Peter Sauber to accomplish a surprise Constructor’s championship. I’ve got a great relationship with my current teammate Kiszol and it’s been amazing working with him”

On the topic of a teammate, Scott Williams went further stating “he’d welcome any driver who could help push the Williams team forward and that he’d prefer someone with proven credentials rather than an untested rookie”.
